Salted Caramel Bars (VIDEO)

INGREDIENTS

CRUST:

  • 3.5 oz granulated sugar (1/2 cup)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 5 oz unsalted butter , melted
  • 1 egg yolk , whisked
  • 7.5 oz all-purpose flour (1 2/3 cup)

 

CARAMEL LAYER:

  • 8 oz unsalted butter (1 cup)
  • 7.5 oz light brown sugar (1 cup, lightly packed)
  • 8.25 oz light corn syrup (3/4 cup)
  • 1 tsp fine sea salt
  • 1.75 oz granulated sugar (1/4 cup)
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • Flaked sea salt
